Ugliness and Beauty is only a question of point of view. Beauty is everywhere but often we can't see it. We have to change our perspective and find the right angle to finally see the beauty in the ugly. Parkour

The dirty green pictures are what a lot of people see everyday walking in the streets. Dirty places full of dirty people, barrieres and walls everywhere. The society look like a prison to them and me. Then I started to do Parkour and I climbed all of thoses walls and barrieres and I changed my own vision of life forever. I can finnaly see the city in her prettiest form (the last picture). The other side behind those ugly walls. All seems to be so clean and pretty from the rooftops view I think I've fainted.

The meaning is that its the human nature to focus on one side of a problem or a thing. They often don't take the time to see the other sides behind it (where often the more interesting stuff are hidden). So to appreciate this work, people will have to change their perspective too and find a way to see what I see. (Thats why the last picture is reversed)

I literally turned my laptop upside down to see the bottom photo hahaha. It was killing me. There are all these grey and dirty photos and then the only glistening, bright photos full of freedom and they're upside down! Who wouldn't turn their laptop upside down to see?! Haha, anyway, I got the message immediately, I hope that makes you feel better about the other person who didn't quite get it : p. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was about freedom; everyone else sees a prison where you see a whole world to explore. Basically I was right : p. We as humans are biologically driven to focus on the negative, we are driven to detect threats, yet we obviously have a deep rooted biological desire for optimism as well because often we will over estimate something good and under estimate something bad. We need optimism and positivity to live a healthy life, yet in modern society especially due to information overload we find it so hard to be happy there are professionals who's sole area of study is happiness! People think happiness is about smiling all the time and ignoring life's problems but that's not happiness, positivity or even optimism. People often pass off their negativity as being 'realistic' but I see more realistic behaviour from an optimist. Pessimists reject positive information. If we take your art for example then they only see the grey images, if a pessimist looked at your artwork right now they may very likely see it as being cluttered or depressing or confusing because the only positive images are upside down. An optimist looks at the artwork and takes in the negative - for example they see that yes the bottom image is incredibly hard to decipher while upside down - and they find a solution. The ability to solve a problem, whether it be emotional, physical, mental or academic, is a primary skill needed in pretty much every facet of life yet pessimists will go out of their way to rebut any solution thrown their way. Often they'll make excuses like, "that's unrealistic," "I can't do that, I've tried before and it doesn't work," (regardless of actual context) "that's much too complicated." One of the best ways to become successful is to do something without thinking about it first or waiting to become ready and that's what optimists do. Being optimistic or happy doesn't mean you never get sad or frustrated or lost, it means you can bounce back from those things quickly. You don't dwell and you even out the negative by looking for the positive. I know the photos aren't entirely about optimism vs pessimism but if you look at it they are very much related. Rather than finding the beauty around them most people choose to focus on the negative noise but if they only looked up from their closed minded world they'd see it isn't as horrible as they think. Anyway, bit of a ramble but I thought it'd interest you : p.

Also, you said you recently (at the time of this post anyway >>) started Parkour? How do you learn? I've been interested for ages but too whimpy to figure it out on my own : p. Also I'm fairly unfit currently, I'm sure Parkour is an extremely dangerous and possibly effective way of BECOMING fit but I'm also pretty sure fitness is a number one requirement for safety haha. So what kinds of things should I look at to improve specifically to help me ease into Parkour? Also do you do it randomly on the streets? Just start running and jumping around everywhere? Do you get weird looks? : p

Anyway, regardless, I guess what I really wanna say is great art man ^^.
